The 2017 Minnesota State Show was held at the McLeod County Fairgrounds in Hutchinson, Minn. on Saturday, June 24, 2017. Larry Tande was the official judge with Karen Johnson acting as the associate judge for the show. They placed 111 heifers and 66 cows for a total of 177 head.
Junior Champion was awarded to the first place winter yearling, Macland Gold Chip Star exhibited by Scott Culbertson. Reserve junior champion honors were awarded to the first place fall yearling Stranshome Barbwire Emmy exhibited by Bradley & Ella Miller. Receiving honorable mention honors for junior champion was the second place winter yearling Peticlerc Doorman Santina exhibited by Jacob Hornberg.
Judge Tande selected the first place junior three-year old Ms Aol Cntndr Rookie-Red-ET, exhibited by Reid Stransky & T & L Cattle as Intermediate Champion. Reserve intermediate champion honors were awarded to Eastriver Goldwyn Deb 176-ET, the first place senior three-year-old exhibited by Andy Stuewe & Corey Feltmann. Honorable mention intermediate champion honors were given to Lacfraser G W Atwood Silver exhibited by David & Cindy Hoese
Senior champion was awarded to the first place five-year-old cow Lovhill Braxton Funky-ET, exhibited by Joseph, Zach, Jerome & Darian Stransky. Reserve senior champion was presented to the first place four-year-old Springbend Windhammer Slash exhibited by Reid Stransky & Springbend Farms. Pine-Shelter Carlia Wood-ET exhibited by Molly Rebecca Alberts received honorable mention.
For Grand Champion Judge Tande selected the senior champion cow Lovhill Braxton Funky-ET, exhibited by Joseph, Zach, Jerome & Darian Stransky. Lovhill Braxton Funky was also named best udder of the show. Reserve grand of the show was awarded to the reserve senior champion Springbend Windhammer Slash exhibited by Reid Stransky & Springbend Farms. Honorable mention was awarded to the intermediate champion Ms Aol Cntndr Rookie-Red-ET, exhibited by Reid Stransky & T & L Cattle.
Best bred & owned of the show was awarded to Pine-Shelter Carlia Wood-ET exhibited by Molly Rebecca Alberts. Reserve bred & owned was awarded to the 4th place aged cow Lida-Acres Damion Allie exhibited by Dana & Maria Johnson.
The premier breeder of the 2017 Minnesota State Holstein Show was awarded to Demmer Farms of Ellendale, Minn. Premier Exhibitor of the 2017 Minnesota State Holstein Show was awarded to Joseph, Zach, Jerome & Darian Stransky of Owatonna, Minn.
